Listing & Credential Methodology
We enforce rigorous epistemic and factual standards when evaluating forestry practitioners. We never fabricate listing data or inflate credentials.
Three-Tier Credential Hierarchy
We explicitly categorize credentials into three distinct levels so landowners understand the exact authority behind each title:
- Official State Statutory Verification: Foresters listed on the official Virginia Department of Forestry Roster pursuant to Virginia Code § 10.1-1181.9 or state licensing boards (e.g., North Carolina Registered Forester under NC Gen. Stat. § 89B, Maryland Registered Professional Forester).
- Accredited Board Certifications: National peer-reviewed credentials such as the Society of American Foresters (SAF) Certified Forester (CF) program, requiring accredited forestry education, exam passage, and ongoing Continuing Forestry Education (CFE).
- Professional Association Memberships: Voluntary professional trade groups such as the Association of Consulting Foresters (ACF), Virginia Forestry Association (VFA), and Southern Appalachian Certified Foresters.
Source Material & Legal Reuse
Listing records are compiled from public records maintained by state departments of forestry pursuant to public service and landowner assistance statutes. Factual directory data (names, firm contact information, registered office addresses, services offered, and official licensing numbers) is published for public benefit and landowner transparency.
